Purpose
Riverside Community Church is a body of believers who,
through their commitment to Christ, boldly penetrate the
culture of the community in which they live, work, and play
with the love of Christ and the message of the gospel so
that society, as a whole, will be changed.
This purpose statement clearly reflects what we believe
to be the mission of Riverside. The 4 I's of Riverside anchor
the mission statement, and are illustrated in our baseball
diagram.

Introduction
Our purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission. We want to
introduce unbelievers to Christ. Romans 10:14 says, “But how
can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?
And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about
him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells
them?” Our purpose is to go and tell!
Intimacy
Discipleship is essential in the life of any Christian. Our
purpose is for our discipleship to produce strong, growing
Christians. In order to grow strong, one must have an intimate
relationship with Jesus. Jesus says, "I am the vine, you are
the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much
fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
Integrity
We are all ministers of Christ. Paul writes “But to each one
is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good”
(I Corinthians 12:7). We believe in exercising the gifts God
has given us. Our purpose is for believers to discover their
gifts and use them for the building up of the body of Christ.
- Ministry/Service Ephesians
2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should
walk in them.
- Fellowship (unity)
1 Thessalonians 2:8 Having thus a fond affection for you,
we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel
of God but also our own lives, because you had become very
dear to us.
Investment
Paul writes in I Thessalonians 2:8, “Having so fond an affection
for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the
gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become
very dear to us.” Our ultimate purpose is to produce producing
Christians. We desire for believers to invest themselves back
into the community. Investment begins with evangelism and
flows into a life of service and surrender to God’s call.
As Paul writes to Timothy, “The things which you have heard
from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to
faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
